Role Overview

Working at the intersection of finance, payments, and real operations.

At Finonic, we’re scaling rapidly and investing heavily in our data and analytics infrastructure. We operate across multiple European entities and rely heavily on real-time operational data to support decision-making, reporting, automation, and future AI-driven initiatives. We are now looking for a Senior BI / Analytics Engineer who can help us evolve our current reporting architecture into a scalable and maintainable analytics platform. This role sits between operational systems, data engineering, and business intelligence. You’ll work closely with BI, Development, and operational stakeholders to improve reporting performance, centralize business logic, and build scalable data models that support long-term growth. We’re looking for someone who enjoys architecture, scalability, optimization, automation, and solving complex data challenges properly
What You’ll Do
Design and maintain scalable ETL / ELT pipelines
Transform operational MySQL data into analytics-ready datasets
Build and optimize Power BI semantic models and reporting layers
Improve BI scalability, maintainability, and refresh performance
Centralize business logic outside Power BI datasets where possible
Implement data engineering best practices around governance and monitoring
Collaborate closely with BI, Development, and operational teams
Improve data quality, trust, and reporting consistency
Support automation and future AI / ML initiatives
Help shape the future analytics architecture of the company
What We’re Looking For
Senior-level experience (5+ years preferred) in BI, Analytics Engineering, or Data Engineering
Advanced SQL skills (MySQL preferred)
Strong Power BI expertise and semantic modelling experience
Experience designing ETL / ELT pipelines
Strong understanding of dimensional modelling and scalable analytics structures
Python experience for automation, data processing, or ML integration
Strong analytical and problem-solving mindset
Ability to communicate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Ownership mentality and proactive approach to improvement
Nice to Have
Experience with analytics platform modernization projects
Experience optimizing Power BI performance and refresh architecture
Experience with orchestration, monitoring, and data governance
Exposure to AI / ML workflows or predictive analytics
Experience within fast-growing digital businesses or scale-ups
Understanding of operational reporting environments with large datasets
